Tobacco Paradise


Even in Cuba, only a few selected farms are good enough to grow the tobacco for Habanos. The character of a Habano is intimately connected with the land where it grows. These lands are the elite Vegas Finas de Primera for the exceptional quality of their soil and microclimate and the uncommon style of the cultivation.

VUELTA ABAJO
The finest tobacco farm/vegas in the world as the main source of tobaccos for the Habanos and the only region that grows all type of leaf. But even here, less than a quarter of the tobacco farm enjoys the status of Vegas Finas de Primera which is required to be the tobacco growing land for Habanos.


Pinar del Rio - province that has all the important growing zone in the west of Cuba. To the south of the city lies some of the finest land which is famous for the wrapper, the Vizcaino plantation.

San Luis - a small town of the epicentreof Cuban tobacco culture, known for the cultivation of wrapper leaves. Here you find the world famous El Corojo Vega, Chucillas de Barbacoa, location of the celebrated Robaina family farm.

San Juan y Martinez - this one is popular for the cultivation of filler and binder leaves. The famous Hoyo de Monterrey plantation is located here.

SEMI VUELTA
Western part of Cuba, known for cultivation of filler and binder leaves.

Partido - historic group of farms, founded in 17th century in Havana province, specialises in cultivation of wrapper leaves.

La Habana - Havana, capital city of Cuba, famous for its harbour port from which Habanos were originally shipped also famous for Habano factories.

VUELTA ARRIBA
Eastern part of Cuba.


Remedios - Largest and oldest tobacco production zone in Cuba. Source of 2 particular brands of Habano: Jose L Piedra and Guantanamera.

Oriente - It was at Bariay on the extreem eastern part where Christopher Colombus landed in 1492 and discovered Cuban Tobacco. It is still tobacco growing zone but not for Habanos.
